Born Nov. 21, 1953, in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, he is survived by one daughter: Tayvian (Tracy) Akiona of Honolulu; one son: Samuel Kalani Akiona of Honolulu; mother of the children: Rochelle L. Akiona of Honolulu; three brothers: William McCullen of New York, Robert Hoopii of Kaua’i, and Bruce (Angie) Hoopii of Kaua’i; three sisters: Dolores Johnson of Oregon, Nora Contrades of Kaua’i, and Ophelia Hoopii of Hawai’i; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts; long-time friend and caregiver, Uncle Jerry Kaneholani; and four grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather for memorial services on Sunday, June 3, at the Kapa’a Small Boat Harbor (which is called the Lihi) at 1 p.m. Scattering of his cremated cremains will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at 10 a.m. also at the Lihu at the Kapa’a Boat Harbor.
Very casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
