Fire-knife dances, live music from groups old and young, Tahitian dancing, and more made for a successful grand-opening celebration for Christina Konno’s Maika’i Models in Kapa’a recently.
Located in the Vision Properties building along Kuhio Highway, the new business is offering summer talent and modeling classes.
Private photo shoots with Honolulu photographer Russell Tanoue are also scheduled, with the next one being Sunday, June 3, at the Radisson Kaua’i Beach Resort.
The summer talent and modeling summer workshop is set for each Saturday from June 9 through July 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Kaua’i Resort’s Koloa Ballroom along Po’ipu Beach.
Self image, self improvement and self confidence techniques will be taught by Elizabeth Agosto-Kawamura, a former Miss Kaua’i and Miss Kaua’i Filipina.
Hair, nail and skin care, etiquette, posture, poise, grooming, diet and nutrition, makeup, fashion wardrobe, and other aspects of the business will be covered. Tanoue will conduct the class photo shoot.
On Saturday, July 21, instructor and casting director Margaret Doversola, whose credits include the new Disney movie “Pearl Harbor” and the recently completed Kaua’i production of “Dragonfly,” as well as TV shows like “Magnum PI” and “One West Waikiki,” will teach students about the casting process, and encourage them to continue taking acting classes.
The deadline for signing up for the class is this Saturday, June 2. The class is open to anyone age 12 and up. Please call 822-9999 for more details.
