KAPA’A – In search of its first girls’ basketball win this season, host Kapa’a gave its all Saturday night.
After three quarters, the junior Warriors trailed Kaua’i 30-27. But that was as close as they’d get. The Red Raiders outscored Kapa’a 19-4 in the final frame to seal a 49-31 victory.
The action was frenzied throughout as the two teams battled. Late in the game, Kapa’a had difficulty with Kauai’s pressure defense. That, coupled with a pair of key 3-pointers from Red Raiders’ sharpshooters pushed the visitors over the top.
Kelly Dennis led Kaua’i with 13 points. Sandy Pimental was Kapaa’s high scorer with 10.
The Red Raiders will host Waimea Tuesday in the season finale for both schools.
