Kaua’i County Police arrested Christine A. Robles, 21, Thursday afternoon on charges of second-degree murder in the death of a newborn infant found in the trash at her parents home where she lived in Koloa.
Paramedics were called to the house Monday at noon because Robles was hemorrhaging. She was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
An examining doctor at the hospital diagnosed that Robles had just had a baby. Despite her denials, paramedics and police were dispatched to the house, where the dead newborn male was discovered in a trash can outside the house, authorities said.
An autopsy determined that the full-term baby had died of asphyxiation, officials said. There were no visible signs of trauma.
