Dawn Lehua Nani Tsukamoto of Kapa’a died March 23, 2001, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 26.
An administrative assistant, she was born July 14, 1974, on O’ahu.
She is survived by her parents: George and Sandra Tsukamoto of Kapa’a; one brother: George (Rie) Tsukamoto of Japan; two sisters: Jadelyn Tsukamoto of Oregon and Laverne Tsukamoto of Kapa’a; three nephews; one niece; numerous aunts, and uncles.
Private services were held. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Museum.
Aurea Remigio
Aurea Eugenio Remigio of Kapa’a died April 2, 2001, at Mahelona Hospital at the age of 86.
A homemaker, she was born March 10, 1914, in the Philippines.
She is survived by one son: Heriberto (Geminiana) Remigio of ‘Ele’ele; one brother: Blas Eugenio of Koloa; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 5, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Koloa, from 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church cemetery. Mass will be celebrated by Father Felix.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Ruth Lauterwald
Ruth Yamamoto Lauterwald of Anchorage, Alaska and formerly of Kaua’i died March 27, 2001, in her Wildien Drive home after an extended bout with cancer.
The daughter of the late Hisayo and Jiro Yamamoto of Lihu’e, she graduated from Kaua’i High School in 1957 and went on to college in the Mainland, earning an BA degree, a teaching certificate and later a MA degree. She taught schools in Missouri, California, Hawai’i, and Alaska until her retirement in 1996. Her last teaching assignment, as a reading specialist, was in the remote Eskimo village of Togiak where access can only be gained by snowmobile or by plane.
She loved the outdoors and made frequent trips across the states and especially in her adopted state of Alaska, where she and her husband would go RVing in the Alaskan wilderness for weeks at a time.
She is survived by her husband, Totila, her son Gary Allen (Patty) Yamamoto of Fairbanks, Alaska, daughter Cheryl Yamamoto of San Pedro, Calif., brothers James (Karen) Yamamoto of Kapa’a, Gary (Susan) Yamamoto of Kailua and Clyde (Jocelyn) Yamamoto of Lihu’e; numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
A private funeral is planned.
