The Kaua’i County water board has approved a proposal to replace an aging water line on Lawa’i Road in Po’ipu to provide improve water service to residents in the area.
The plan, approved Wednesday, calls for the installation of a larger line along 2,800 feet of the road from Kukui’ula Bay to Spouting Horn, said Kymm Solchaga, a spokeswoman for the Water Department.
The department’s Water Plan 2020, a multi-million dollar undertaking to upgrade the water system to ensure reliable water service on the island, identified the project as a top priority.
The engineering plans for the Lawa’i Road project were done by Wagner Engineering, a consulting firm from Hanalei. The construction work has been put out to bid.
