Lady Luck smiled on an elderly woman motorist from Hanama-ulu yesterday.
The unidentified woman suffered no injuries after the late-model truck she was driving careened against a guardrail on an incline on Kuhio Highway and flipped over in Kapaia as she headed for Lihu-e.
The woman — the only occupant in the vehicle — reported to police that her brakes had failed.
Motorists — including tourists — righted the truck near the intersection of Ma-alo Road and the highway and helped her out, without a scratch, according to a Kaua-i police officer.
Paramedics arrived, checked her out and released her, he said.
“She was just lucky,” the officer said.
