Waimea’s Clarence Aki becomes the faceless baseball player as Kaua’i catcher Kwinton Estacio puts the tag on him at home plate Thursday at Hanapepe Stadium. The Red Raiders defeated the Menehunes in the final first-day game of the Waimea Invitational Baseball Tournament. Earlier at Hanapepe Stadium, Interscholastic League of Honolulu representative Mid-Pacific defeated the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s Leilehua 10-0. Over at the tournament’s other venue, Waimea High School, Kaua’i defeated the OIA’s Kahuku 7-1 in the noon game. Kapa’a then doubled Kahuku’s pain with a 7-0 blanking of the Oahu squad. Friday’s action features three games at Hanapepe Stadium: Kahuku battles Mid-Pac at 10 a.m.; Mid-Pac then turns around and faces Kapa’a at 12:30 p.m.; finally Waimea challenges Leilehua at 3 p.m. Just one game will be played at WHS. At 11:30 a.m., Kaua’i faces Leilehua.
