Calista “Cally” Peirce of Aspen, Colorado died at her fathers condo in Princeville, Feb. 22, 2001 at the age of 48, after a 14 year war with breast cancer.
With the support of her family, the war took the form of conventional to alternative medicine, from bone marrow transplants to immuno therapy, from the mainland to Germany. It defined her character and being and is summoned up in one word, courageous.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 19, 1952, she was an attorney who practiced in Colorado until her battle with cancer forced her into retirement in 1998, when she began to spend more time in Kaua’i. A 24 year visitor here, she loved the island, it’s people and especially Hanalei Bay.
She is survived by her mother, Joy Landfield of Winnetka, Illinois, her father and stepmother, George and Pam Landfield, of Sedona, Arizona, her brother Michael Landfield, of Winnetka, Illinois, her husband, Bill Tuite of Aspe, Colorado, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and her beloved border collie, Echo.
The family wishes to thank all her caregivers and the staff at Wilcox Medical Clinic and Wilcox Memorial Hospital, and her wonderful island friends, all of whom helped to make her life a little better and show and share with her their Aloha. Mahalo Nui Loa. Her remains will be cremated at the Garden Island Mortuary and a memorial service will be held March 10 by the pier on Hanalei Bay at 10 a.m.
Consuelo Goias
Consuelo Delostrico Goias of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died Feb. 24, 2001 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 71.
Born April 12, 1929, Honolulu, Oahu, she was a retired baker for Wilcox Hospital
She is survived by one daughter: Adele (Wallace) Badoyen of California; one son: Eric Goias of Hanama’ulu; one granddaughter: Jennifer Badoyen of Fresno, Calif.; four sisters: Sally Garcia, of Hanama’ulu; Loretta Duterte of Hanama’ulu; Shirley (Tony) Parraga of Kekaha; Yolanda Henriques of Hanama’ulu one brother: Joseph (Mitzi) Delostrico of Hanama’ulu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation has been scheduled for Friday, March 9, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia, from 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Alex. Burial to follow at the Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary.
