Castor Redor Riopta of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died Feb. 11, 2001, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, at the age of 62.
Born June 1, 1938, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was an irrigator with the sugar industry for Lihu’e Plantation.
He is survived by his wife: Violeta Riopta of Hanama’ulu; one daughter; Carol Riopta of Hanama’ulu; one son: C.J. Riopta of Hanama’ulu; four brothers: Pedro Riopta of Hanama’ulu; Emigdio (Gloria) Riopta of Hanama’ulu; Angel (Valentina) Riopta of Philippines; Ceferino (Vernon) Riopta, of Philippines; two sisters: Alejandra Riopta of Philippines and Jacinta (Jose) Ragasa of Hanama’ulu. Numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia, from 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Paul. Burial to follow at the Lihu’e Public Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
