The 13th Aloha Airlines Junior Tennis Tournament was held December 2-3 on
Kaua’i. The following are the results for the kids from the island who
participated in the tourney.
Boys’ 10 Singles (Novice)
Kapa’a’s
Sterling Inouye defeated Kona’s Niall Scully 8-6 in round one; lost to
Honolulu’s Kevin Caufield 8-1 in quarterfinal round.
Boys’ 12 Singles
(Novice)
Princeville’s Justin Vea lost 8-2 to Kaneohe’s Clinton Hirano in
round one. Kilauea’s Dylan Latif got a bye in the first round, then lost to
Hirano 8-2 in the quarterfinals.
Boys’ 14 Singles Novice)
Kapa’a’s Cory
Napoleon lost 8-1 to Honolulu’s Kazuki Sakamoto. Lihu’e’s Bryce Hosaka fell 8-5
to Hilo’s Mark Nakashima.
Boys’ 16 Singles (Novice)
Kapa’a’s Tyler
Inouye lost 8-1 to Aiea’s Ashten Kawabe. Lihu’e’s Ronald Hosaka lost a tight
match to Kailua’s Andrew Barnett, falling 8-7 (8-6 in tiebreaker).

Tyler Carvalho lost 8-3 to Honolulu’s Travers Ching. Eleele’s Ricky Riopta also
lost a close match to Honolulu’s Dominic Rand, 8-7 (7-3 in
tiebreaker).
Girls’ 10 Singles (Novice)
Kapa’a’s Lyndsey Tom got a bye
in round one, then fell to Kapolei’s Natalie Phanphengdy in the quarterfinals.
Kapa’a’s Mailika Napoleon fell 8-1 to Kapolei Mel Vinyapunt in the first
round.
Girls’ 14 Singles (Novice)
Koloa’s Sheel Bhatt lost 8-1 in the
first round to Mililani’s Audra Takara.
Boys’ 14 Singles
(Intermediate)
Kilauea’s Alex Latif fell 6-3, 6-2 to Honlulu’s Jonathan
Wong in the first round. Lihu’e’s Chad Naganuma lost 6-2, 6-3 to Eric T.
Cunningham of Honolulu in the opening round.
Boys’ 16 Singles
(Intermediate)
Lihu’e’s Jordan Kukino was defeated in the first round 6-4,
6-3 by Pearl City’s David Tomita. Koloa’s Kalaea Lake beat Lihu’e’s Joshua
Miyamoto 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round. Lake then fell to Honolulu’s Wataru
Mino 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinal round. Koloa’s Chris Colacino lost 6-2, 6-0
to Honolulu’s Joe Imai.
Boys’ 18 Singles (Intermediate)
Lihu’e’s Stan
Hashimoto fell 6-2, 6-1 to Mililani’s Joel Maeshiro.

Koloa’s Cassady Sirois fell in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to
Hilo’s Stephanie Tadaki.
