Department of Transportation. In it, Aloha was ranked as the nation’s best airline for on-time performance, pretty much the most important measuring stick for passengers after safety.
Aloha snared the top spot by being on time with 90.5 percent of its domestic flights in October, the first month in which Aloha was included. Aloha also became the first airline to voluntarily file its on-time statistics with the federal DOT, which requires only the 10 largest U.S. carriers to disclose their adherence to schedules.
The travel horrors of passengers stranded at airports by airlines with late or canceled flights are well-documented. No such tales afflict the Hawai’i-based Aloha. Granted, Aloha primarily is an inter-island airline. But if offers more than 1,200 flights each week between islands, and it also flies to the mainland. Oakland, Calif. became a destination last February, and Las Vegas and southern California are next.
Clearly, time is on Aloha’s side.
