But new superlatives are hard to come by for the Kauaian who continues to make the surfing world his own. Already the Association of Surfing Professionals champion for 2000, last Sunday he added the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing to his list of titles. That victory Sunday at Sunset Beach put him on the brink of doing what no one else has done: Win all three of surfing’s Triple Crown events in one season, an accomplishment that awaits him if he wins the Pipe Masters.
Pretty soon, if not already, two words are all that will be needed to describe Garcia: The best.
