With all the negativity about teenagers lately, I’d like to tell you about an
outstanding Kauai teenager, Keizo Gates. Keizo is a sophomore at Kauai High
School.
Last August I ran an appeal in Project Kokua in the Honolulu Sunday
paper, asking for a volunteer to design a website for our philanthropic
organization, ASSISTANCE LEAGUE@ of Hawaii. Keizo was on 0’ahu visiting his mom
and he responded to my ad. He said he would do this because he wants to build
his portfolio of websites to get work locally to enable him to someday buy a
car.
Keizo took the information I gave him, along with some photos and our
logo, and designed an outstanding website. Check it out at
www.kokuawithaloha.org. It is dignified, always in good taste, heart tugging,
accurate and useful. And, it was free. He charged us only his expenses
(registering domain name, etc.).
We think he is an outstanding young man,
and certainly a talented one. He spent a lot of hours getting it right. He made
some good decisions about what to use and what not to use. He linked us to our
national organization. We are impressed. I hope you are too. Such a volunteer
committment for this young man!
Keizo Gates is a young man Kauai can be
proud of.
With all best wishes,
“Dot” Mason
Chairman, Public
Relations
Assistance League of Hawaii.
