The Countdown
Waimea High School is preparing
for its ninth consecutive trip to the state playoffs.
– Days to game:
8
– Opponent: OIA #1, either Wai’anae or Kahuku
– Season Records:
Wai’anae (11-0); Kahuku (9-2)
Today [Wednesday] was just another
practice as far as we’re concerned. That’s how we want the boys to approach it,
like this is just another game. But we also know that it’s time to go show that
the boys on Kaua’i can play some ball.
We got the boys back in pads today,
and did some hitting, though not too much. This certainly is not the time in
the season to be breaking any heads out there. We really have to limit them,
because these boys really love to hit.
We worked on our offense today,
too, keeping things simple of course. The OIA schools have played against the
run-n-shoot a lot, and seen a lot of movement. We want to keep our football
simple here.
Thursday we’re in pads again, working on some of the
tendencies of our possible opponents (Wai’anae or Kahuku).
