To everyone who has already voted by absentee ballot or is planning to go to
the polls on election day tomorrow, thank you. And to all registered voters who
aren’t planning to join them, please do so.
There is such a strong
responsibility to participate in democracy via the ballot box that it virtually
overrides a citizen’s right not to vote. Cynicism and feelings of
disenfranchisement understandably keep some people on election sidelines. No
one can force these people to vote or tell them how to vote. But they certainly
can and must be encouraged to vote.
