Twenty-five years as an educator have made Kristine Fujita the kind of teacher
who’s respected by students, parents and her peers. The respect reached an even
higher level with her selection as the Kaua’i District Teacher of the Year, one
of six teachers statewide so honored statewide.
The use of a new automobile
for a year and $500 are Fujita’s prizes. But she essentially divided her awards
among other teachers, pupils and parents, saying her recognition wouldn’t be
possible without them.
Humility aside, outstanding teachers deserve
attention. Fujita deserves her time in the spotlight.
