Two of the top teams in Pop Warner
football battled to a scoreless tie Saturday. Defense was the name of the game
as neither Hanapepe or Kapa’a were able to crack the other’s
goalline.
Koloa Raiders 22; (2-3)
Kekaha Chargers 0; (1-4)
It was
the Gavin Loftstedt day in this midget battle. The all-around player scored the
Raiders’ first touchdown early in the first quarter on a five-yard run. In the
third quarter, Lofttedt recovered a blocked punt and rambled 27 yards to the
end zone for his second TD. He also ran for the two-point conversion to put his
team ahead 14-0.
Raider Ronson Arakaki got in on the scoring action with
eight seconds left in the game, running in from three yards out. Loftstedt
added the two-point conversion.
Pee Wee
Kapa’a Steelers 28;
(2-3)
Hanapepe Cowboys 8; (1-4)
Things began well for the Cowboys, when
Alan-Michal Gaspar found the end zone from eight yards out late in the first
quarter to put his team up 6-0.
Just minutes later, however, Kapa’a got on
the board when Lopine Apuna ran seven yards for the score. Just one Cowboys’
possession after that, Apuna again was on the attack. He returned a punt 50
yards for the score, and Ekolu Allianic scored on the two-point conversion to
put Kapa’a up 14-6.
In the third quarter, the Steelers’ Chaz Galvez
recovered a blocked punt on the Cowboys’ 21-yard line and ran all the way back
for the TD.
Kainoa Nakaahiki then recorded a safety for Kapa’a to put his
team ahead 22-6.
Midway through the final period, the scoring ended when
Steelers QB Ekolu Allianic found Kullen Fernandez for a 34-yard TD
pass.
Kekaha Seahawks 26; (5-0)
Koloa Rams 8; (4-1)
In a battle of
unbeaten Pee Wee teams, Kekaha, behind a three-touchdown day from Chad Barba,
emerged victorious.
Drew Ueno got the Seahawks on the board first, when he
rumbled 32 yards on a fake punt to the end zone.
The Rams stormed back,
taking the lead when Alan Kalili ran 16 yards for the score, and added the
two-point conversion.
With Koloa ahead 8-6, Kekaha went to Barba, and he
delivered. The tailback scored in the second, third and fourth quarters on runs
of three, one and forty-two yards, respectively.
Kenney Estes added the
two-point conversion on Barba’s last TD to complete the scoring.

Hanapepe Colts 6; (2-2)
Kapa’a Warriors 0; (0-3-1)
Cole
Parongao accounted for the only points on this day when he dashed 37 yards for
the score at the 3:57 mark of the third quarter. Outside of that, defense ruled
the contest.
Koloa Packers 18; (2-2)
Kekaha Panthers 0;
(1-2-1)
Intense ball pressure led Koloa over Kekaha in Jr. Pee Wee action.
The Packers blocked two punts on the day, both of which led to
touchdowns.
Dustin Foley got the Packers on the board midway through the
first quarter when he ran 29 yards for the score.
Kaukana Siver blocked a
punt near the end of the third quarter. On the ensuing play, Foley got the ball
in his hands again, and turned in a 56-yard effort that ended in his second
score. Prystan Viluan ended the Koloa scoring in the fourth quarter when he
returned a blocked punt 26 yards to the end zone. Kody Pagador registered the
blocked kick.

Lihu’e Patriots 22; (4-1)
Northshore Chiefs 6;

After a scoreless first quarter, the Patriots got on the board when
Kekoa Crowell found receiver Westin Victorino on a 19-yard touchdown pass.
Crowell added the two-point conversion for a 8-0 lead.
Lance Okasaki dove
in from one-yard out in the third quarter to get Lihu’e on the board again.
Crowell again converted for two. Those two gentlemen hooked up for the
Patriots’ final TD. Crowell found Okasaki for a five-yard TD pass with under
one minute remaining in the game.
Pee Wee
Lihu’e Dolphins 34;
(3-2)
Northshore Giants 0; (0-5)
Kyle Kaili found the end zone three
times on the afternoon for the Dolphins as the squad romped over Northshore.
Stanton Yoshimori got the Giants on the board first when he registered a
safety. Kaili the scored on a free-kick return. Micah Waiamau converted the
two-point try.
Kaleo Perez then ran in from seven yards for a score.
Lihu’e’s Hanohano Elis recovered a Giants’ fumble with time running out in the
first quarter. Drake Apao capitalized right away, running 31 yards for the TD.
Kaili scored the final two Dolphins’ touchdowns on a 45-yard run and
30-yard punt return.
