Someone is stealing Hondas.
The Kaua`i Police Department reports at least
five cars have been stolen on the island in the past two weeks. All the thefts
have been in the Lihu’e and Kapa`a areas. and except for one Volkswagen stolen
at the Wal-Mart store in Lihu’e, all the misappropriated cars have been
Hondas.
The Hondas have been stolen from Coconut Marketplace, Kukui Grove
Center, Wilcox Memorial Hospital (the employee parking lot) and Elua
Street.
“The job of punching out the ignition and the hot-wiring are being
done by someone who knows what they’re doing,” said police Lt. Bill
Ching.
The majority of the thefts have happened during daylight
hours.
Anyone seeing someone attempting to enter a vehicle in a suspicious
manner should call 9-1-1 immediately, police officials urged.
