My husband and I encountered a very nice young woman transplanted here from
Sacramento, Calif. We did not learn her name, and thought this letter might be
a way to thank her and demonstrate our sincere appreciation for her kind
act.
We left the hotel one afternoon for a walk around 5:30 or 5:45 p.m.,
thinking we could complete our walk easily by dark. We were following a hotel
running path but somehow did not take the correct turn that would have returned
us to the hotel. Instead, missing a turn, we wound up on the road that takes
one to the lighthouse. It was getting dark and very apparent we were off the
correct path.
A car appeared at the end of the road near the lighthouse,
lights on, coming toward us. My husband waved the car down in hope of getting
directions. A very nice young lady with a very large dog in the back seat
immediately saw we were in trouble. Instead of directions, she offered us a
ride, insisting she take us all the way to our hotel. Once more, proof God
takes care of little children and fools.
I hope she or someone who knows
her reads this and will convey how very grateful we are. Our rescuer is a
tremendous athlete, runs and rows, owns a cleaning business and dogsits for her
friends.
Thanks to our good Samaritan. She has truly adopted the Hawaiian
frame of mind — kindness and hospitality just come naturally.
