The month of October has been designated Domestic Violence Awareness Month. And
during the week of Oct. 16-20, the YWCA Week Without Domestic Violence will be
observed. On Kaua’i, the YWCA has planned a different event for each day of the
week.
The Purple Ribbon Campaign is a national campaign to educate and
bring awareness toward reducing violence in our communities and homes. By
wearing a purple ribbon, we can show our commitment to stopping
violence.
For the Purple Ribbon Campaign, a basket of purple ribbons, for
people to wear or attach to their car antenna, will be displayed at businesses
islandwide. A small poster will announce the purpose of the campaign. All the
businesses that have contributed to the campaign will be listed on the poster
as co-sponsors.
You can assist us in promoting this campaign by making
monetary contributions or donating purple ribbons, pins and baskets, and/or
helping us by distributing purple ribbons at your place of business.
