Last week, Kapa’a showed only short stints of promise in a 20-7 loss to

visiting Lahainaluna at Vindinha Stadium. After the game, offensive coordinator

Macky Doi said the Warriors (1-1), on a whole, didn’t much care about the

score. The coaching staff was more concerned with taking a look at personnel

and finding the right combinations.

Honoka’a was the victim of last week’s

assessment. The Warriors found a groove and stuck it to their Big Island hosts.

“We’ll be ready to go for this one,” head coach Gordon Muramaru said last

Indeed they were.

Kapa’a opens KIF play on Sept. 8 at

Vindinha against Waimea at 7:35 p.m.
