A female visitor to the island was kidnapped and sexually assaulted last
Saturday, according to Kaua’i Police.
Investigators said the victim and the
suspected assailant were camping together in the vicinity of Nukoli. The victim
claimed her companion held her at the campsite against her will from Thursday
until Saturday morning, when she was sexually assaulted.
The victim talked
her way out of the campsite after the alleged assault and went to a local
hotel, where she called the police.
Police said the assailant was arrested
at the campsite without incident and was booked on one count of felony sexual
assault and one count of kidnapping. He was transported to the Kaua`i Community
Correction Center.
