Six Kaua`i Fire Department competitors finished the 20th Annual Tinman
Triathalon held in Honolulu on July 16. The event started at 5:45 a.m. and
consisted of a half-mile swim at Ala Moana Park, a 25-mile bike race following
a route similar to the Honolulu Marathon, and a 6.2-mile run up and around
Diamond Head. The Tinman Triathalon is labelled the “People’s Race” because
the distances are laid out so that anyone with desire is able to complete the
course. Finishers shown from left to right include Ron Bush, Jed Smith,
Maureen Higa, T. Clyde Weddell, Bill Quinlan, and Sueo Higa.
