After two years as administrator of the Hawai’i State Hospital on Oahu, Wayne
Law is returning to Kaua’i.
Law will resume his duties as chief of the
Kaua’i Mental Health Center. Until his replacement at the state hospital is
found, though, Law will remain in Honolulu.
Bruce Anderson, state director
of health, said Law was appointed administrator of the state hospital at a time
when the state’s mental health program was being required to increase
community-based programming for discharged patients.
Under Law’s
administration, the hospital achieved national reaccreditation, implemented
treatment-related activities and significantly increased discharges, according
to Anderson.
“Wayne brought the hospital a long way in a relatively short
period of time. His administrative experience, programming knowledge and people
skills were great assets in our efforts at the hospital,” Anderson said.
He
said Law wants to return to Kaua’i.
