the scene of a mishap that took place about 2:30 p.m. on Hwy 50 just west of
the Menehune Food Mart in Lawai at the top of the hill leading to the Koloa
Road intersection. According to several eyewitnesses, the driver of the late
model Honda heading west apparently crossed the center line and ran into the
Dodge pickup that was coming up the hill heading east. There were several
serious casualties in the accident that had KPD re-routing traffic using Koloa
Road to detour motorists around the accident scene. (Photo by Dennis
