KANEOHE shortstop Jake Ho takes the throw as Aiea’s Christian Johnson starts a
slide on a stolen base attempt on a passed ball. Johnson was out, but Aiea
went on to win 4-1 behind a 2-RBI double from thirdbaseman Matt Young. Kaneohe
ends their tournament in third place, their only run coming from a solo homerun
by Kaimi Ah New in the third inning. Lance Powell (shown at right hurling a
pitch) picked up the win for Aiea on the hill with Ah New suffering the loss.
Aiea, who suffered a 9-2 loss earlier to Kaneohe on Saturday, will meet
undefeated Ewa for the championships starting at 4 p.m. at the New Kapa`a Main
Diamond. Should Ewa suffer a loss, another game will take place on Thursday.
The state championship tournament is being hosted by the Kawaihau Little
League.
