MILILANI, O`ahu—Despite 3 RBI on a pair of singles by Kaua`i PONY All-Star
Alec Reichle, Kaua`i stranded three runners on the pads in the bottom of the
seventh inning as Hawai`i Kai took a 5-4 win on Friday afternoon at the
Mililani field.
Kaua`i opened the books in the bottom of the second with
Michael Yaris cranking an RBI double to left scoring Rayson Cacal who had
earlier reached on a fielder’s choice.
Hawai`i Kai answered on their next
at-bat with aa 2 RBI single that gave the lead to the O`ahu team, but that was
short-lived as Reichle brought a pair of runs across the plate in the bottom of
the frame to give Kaua`i the 3-2 nod.
Hawai`i Kai bats again roared in the
fifth frame as the O`ahu team came up with a run on three hits only to have
Reichle and Clarence Aki answer for Kaua`i, scoring a run in the 2-hit frame
for the 4-3 lead.
A big double in the seventh frame gave Hawai`i Kai the
final go-ahead as they scored two runs on three hits for the 5-4 reading that
stood as Kaua`i filled the bases on singles by Duston Mundon and Andrew
Phillips, but couldn’t capitalize.
