LIHU`E-Over $5,000 in cash and prizes await anglers who will participate in the
Third Annual K-Mart Shoreline Fishing Tournament scheduled to run from July
21-23.
A $1,500 top prize for the heaviest ulua repeats from last year’s
tournament, with cash prizes topping the other nine categories available for
Kaua`i’s shoreline fishermen.
Maurice Sporting Goods joins K-Mart as one of
the anchor sponsors for the event that will have its weigh-in starting at 10
a.m. until noon on Sunday, July 23 in the K-Mart parking lot.
Fishing for
the tournament starts on noon Friday, July 21 and any fish to be considered
must be weighed by noon Sunday, July 23 to qualify for any of the
prizes.
Sandy Pasion, tournament coordinator, said that Maurice will be
providing prizes for winners in the ten categories as well as prizes for keiki
activities that will be hosted during the Sunday weigh-in.
The family of
sponsors for this year’s event includes Hawai`i Intercontinental Corporation,
Kaku Lures, Mokihana Travel Service, Rob’s Good Time Grill, Hawaiian Isles
Water Company, as well as Maurice Sporting Goods and K-Mart.
In addition to
the $1,500 top purse for the heaviest ulua, anglers in that division have a
shot at one of ten places that will be awarded prizes.
The Open division –
Oio will have a top purse of $300 with prizes being presented to the top six
places.
Women’s Division – Heaviest Ulua will also have prizes for the top
six places as will the Open division – Largest Freshwater Fish, Men’s Division
– Largest Papio, Children’s “A” Division – Largest Fish, Women’s
Division – Largest Papio, Children’s “B” Division – Largest Fish,
Open Division – 5 pounds and Under Saltwater, and Children’s “C”
Division – Largest Fish.
Pasion says everyone who enters is a winner for
this third annual event as the entry ticket qualifies the angler to a free
K-Mart Shoreline fishing tee-shirt, and for anglers 17 years and younger, the
ticket will qualify the young fisherman to a special gift from Maurice Sporting
Goods.
Additionally, the entry form features K-Mart Sporting Goods specials
available only to registrants.
