Loved the concert

The Prince Albert Festival was a wonderful surprise to my friends and me!! The musicians were absolutely first rate, many from Julliard and USC. The caliber of the musicians as well as their generosity in sharing their passion for their music was extraordinary, especially considering that we are on this remote island in the middle of the Pacific! The Princeville ballroom made for an intimate setting. You couldn’t get this close to the performers at the Blaisdell.

$45 for at least seven concerts over a 5 day period for top rated professionals, plus very talented music students from Oahu playing additional concerts made this a great bargain. I hope that the Festival will be better publicized next year. There were only about 150 attendees or so in a hall that can hold 400 people. The only way I learned of it was because a friend had stumbled on to it last year. I have promised Carolyn, the chief concierge at the Princeville who was in charge this year, that I would do what I can to help her find low cost ways to promote the Festival next year.

Princeville seems so far away for those of us who live on the west side. But we got creative about how to attend and we are all very happy that we did so.

You know, it’s really pretty funny. We’ll fly to another island, rent a condo, enjoy those sights and yet we have some of the best ambience and scenery right here on our North Shore. Keep your eyes open for this jewel in our midst in 2001.
