To the Forum:Regarding the letter I wrote last week on the perceived lack
of audits at the Humane Society, I sit corrected.
According to three of my
callers there have been yearly (successful) monetary audits.
The
misconception I labored under (myself and 90 percent of the reading public)
came from the media releases that most certainly made it sound like Mrs. Hoe
was fired because of a monetary lapse.
It turns out that the firing took
place because of incorrect intake/euthanasia figures.
Wow! I guess Mrs. Hoe
should have been sitting in the parking lot with a calculator all this time,
not out raising literally millions for the Society and then having the temerity
to trust the totals given her by her over-worked staff.
If these figures
were of such prime importance I stand by my original statement (now altered) —
where was the board when these important figures were compiled?
For
shame.
