UNDER CONSTRUCTION The existing Koloa bypass road will be closed next Monday
through Friday, June 26 to 30, so workers can connect the existing bypass road
to the remainder of the under-construction bypass road. Besides the closure of
the existing bypass road, Weliwili Road from its intersection with Hapa Road to
the existing bypass road will be closed.
That means folks interested in
getting to the Hyatt or Po’ipu Beach Park should take a right onto Koloa Road
from Maluhia Road in Koloa town, then left onto Po’ipu Road to get to South
Shore attractions. The Department of Public Works Engineering Division
announced the road closures earlier this week.
Doreen L. Sanchez Rego
Contractor, Inc. is the project general contractor. When work on the bypass
road is completed, there will be a left turn off Maluhia Road (Tree Tunnel
road) before Annie S. Knudsen Park (Koloa ball park) that will take travelers
all the way to the intersections of Pe’e Road and Po’ipu Road in Po’ipu,
totally bypassing Koloa town. For more information about the work or route,
contact Alex Pascual, county project engineer, 241-6613.
