quarter, and the Kalaheo Lakers’ shot attempts were constantly twarted by a
quick-moving Lihu`e And 1 team.

As the clock wound down, Harold Shimono broke the ice for the
Lakers with a late bucket followed by a quick pair from Sam Schur to prevent
the shutout as the Lihu`e And 1 took a 35-6 win out the door of the Bernice
Hundley Gym at Kapa`a High School on Thursday night.
Schur and Shimono were
the sole scorers for the Kalaheo Lakers while Pono Perez and Kupa Gray Cochea
topped the scoring for Lihu`e, combining for 14 points in the win.
Chasing
a single point at the end of the first period of play, the Kaua`i Magic fell
short in the second quarter as the Boys & Girls Club of Kapa`a edged past
the Magic 18-16 in the evening’s finale.
Halem Medina topped the Kapa`a
scoring with 6 points followed by Elijah Phillips who ended the night with 4
points.
Sean Inouye and Peyton Navarro led the Kaua`i Magic with 3 points
apiece.
Monday night’s schedule for the KYBA will have the Kaua`i Magic
taking on TGI Kalaheo Lakers (10U) in a 5:30 matchup at the Kalaheo
Neighborhood Center followed by the 14 & Under boys Kaumakani Supersonics
taking on the Lihu`e Wolfpack at 6:30. The finale will see the Kalaheo Pistons
taking on Lihu`e 5-O’s in a 7:30 p.m. game.
Over at the Kapa`a High School
gym, The Lihu`e And 1’s tangle with the Kapa`a Boys & Girls Club in a 5:30
p.m. encounter for the boys 10 & Under division followed by the Puhi
Wildcats grappling with the Westside Hornets in the boys 14 & Under contest
that tips off at 6:30 p.m. The finale will see the Kapa`a Cobras battle the
Kilauea Warriors starting at 7:30 p.m.
