What a week we had visiting your beautiful island in the spring! We felt we
could not leave without thanking you all for such a memorable visit. The aloha
spirit is very much active all over this special place. Although we spent most
of our time on the incomparable North Shore, we found that the beauty here lies
not just in the magical surroundings, but also in the hearts of those that live
and work here. Everywhere we went special views and special people were there
to greet us. From sunsets at Ke’e Beach, to colorful scenes in Waimea Canyon
and everywhere in between we found spectacular views and scenery which kept us
in awe on this our first visit here.
But more than the scenery, of which
you all are well aware, we found the people of this island so special in that
they made us feel so welcome. We must give special thanks to Aalona of Na Pali
Eco Tours who would have given us the tour of a lifetime on the Na Pali coast
had it not been for the weather that forced him to think of our safety; to
Paige who made us feel so special at the delicious and most entertaining luau
at Gaylord’s; to Jean at Kaua’i Museum who introduced us to fascinating
historical events and showed us the art of your islands most talented young
people; to Chuck, our helicopter pilot from Jack Harter Helicopter Tours, who
gave us so much interesting information about your fascinating island while
giving us a close-up-birds-eye-view that our hearts will never forget; to Helen
and her fascinating and informative stories about the wildlife at the Kilauea
Lighthouse; to Danny at Hanalei Bay Resort whose good natured humor and
generous hospitality enabled our daughter and son-in-law to enjoy tennis with
some of the nicest people we have ever met; to Mauli and Johnny at the
Princeville Hotel who presented to us the Hawaiian stories as they have been
told for centuries through hula; to the special group of servers at Dukes that
made sure we were well taken care of while we watched our favorite sporting
event; to Marty who arranged for us to see things few visitors have ever scene
in this gorgeous and special place; and to all the other special people whose
smiling faces we will never forget.
What a special island home you all have
made for yourselves. Thank you for sharing it for a brief week with us.
Needless to say, we will be back.
