ALAHEO—The Kaumakani Supersonic girls and the Kaua`i Fire Protection Raiders roared into the Boys and Girls 12 & Under 2000 KYBA (Kaua`i Youth Basketball Association) Summer Basketball Program by establishing their mark against their opponents early in games played at
ALAHEO—The Kaumakani Supersonic girls and the Kaua`i Fire Protection Raiders
roared into the Boys and Girls 12 & Under 2000 KYBA (Kaua`i Youth
Basketball Association) Summer Basketball Program by establishing their mark
against their opponents early in games played at the Kalaheo Neighborhood
Center on Monday night.Playing primarily at the Kalaheo center, there
will be four games each week through June 3, 2000, with the girls taking the
court on Monday and Friday evenings and the boys having their court time on
Wednesdays and Saturdays playing four 6-minute quarters on each outing.
The
girls teams include the Kaumakani Supersonics coached by Fran Raguindin, the
Hanapepe Refug’s with Francis Kaohi in the coaches’ corner, Brian Inouye doing
the coaching honors for the Kaua`i Fire Protection, and Lewis Singleterry
coaching the Kuhio Motors team.
Maynard Shea is at the head of the Westside
Hornets in the boys division with Dennis Aquino coaching the Lihu`e Wolfpack.
Kaleo Perez coaches Lihu`e and the Boys & Girls Club, Kapa`a team is
coached by Lew Lindsey.
Karen Matsumoto is the league
coordinator.

All nine
Supersonics entered the scorebooks in the westside win over Kuhio Motors with
Sheila Ramos topping the Kaumakani roster with 10 points. Sharla Shimono and
Lexine Valenciano added 6 points each in the 38-3 win over Kuhio
Motors.
Sandi Makepa’s pair and half of a charity pair by Kanoe Woodward
accounted for the Kuhio Motors scoring that came in the second
period.

Despite strong
court prescense demonstrated by Hanapepe’s Chasen Sherman, Brandee Abuan, and
Kayla Santa Ana, the Refug’s could not reap the buckets on the offensive end of
play as the Kaua`i Fire Protection rolled through the gym behind the high point
performance of Nalinee Pickop’s 12 points.
Sherman’s 6 points and Abuan’s
pair accounted for the Hanapepe scoring.
