behind the plate to pace the 15-5 victory over the East Kaua`i team in
Saturday’s opening game played at the Eleele Field.
Blondie Caveiro, Bobby
and Rittmeister Rita each tallied a homerun in their 2-two game for West
Kaua`i.
Alex Youn and Fred Carvalho were the only East Kaua`ians to pair
hit in the loss. Walter Silva suffered the loss on the mound for East
Kaua`i.
Dado Paiste sparked the K-Makule’s 20-6 win over Kawaihau by going
the distance on the hill and helping himself to a homer on 3 hits in the
win.
Lefty Remata and Saba Torres also chalked up homeruns in their pair
hits on the day. Buddy Kanoa ended the day with 3 hits for K-Makule.
Don
Boro was a perfect 3-for-3 for Kawaihau with Harry Villanueva and Jose Yadao
pairing hits. Yadao suffered the loss as the pitcher.
Archi Fontanilla
picked up his 3rd win as the Rookies slipped past the Lihu`e A’s 6-3 in the
finale.
Doric Remata was a perfect 3-for-3 to lead the Rookies’ bats with
Nelly Mendonca, Stan Dela Cruz, and Bob Merkel each paired hits.
Tomo
Hiranaka was 3-for-3 for the Lihu`e A’s with Chic Cacabalos going 2-for-3. Joe
Brun suffered the loss on the mound.
The win improves the Rookies’ standing
to 3-0 on the season, and the league-leaders will open Saturday’s games at
Kaumakani when they host East Kaua`i in the 9:15 a.m. game. The Lihu`e A’s
meet the K-Makules in the second contest, and West Kaua`i matches up against
Kawaihau in the finale.
