olumba AfosColumba Alfiler Afos of Lihue died May 5, 2000, at Wilcox

Hospital at the age of 90.

A teacher for Ramon Avancena High School in the

Philippines, she was born June 10, 1909, in La Paz, Abra in the

Philippines.

She is survived by one son: Alfonso (Ely) Afos of Lihue; two

brothers: Manuel Afos of Washington and Andres Afos of the Philippines;

sisters: Conchita Castaneda, Soledad Bondame, Sister Colombe Afos, and

Felicidad Lalin, all of the Philippines; five grandchildren; John (Lori) Afos,

Maricel Afos, Jennifer (Aaron) Largusa, Theresa “T-Ta” Afos and Tony Afos; four

great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may

call on Friday, May 12, at Immaculate Conception Church from 9 a.m. to 10:15

a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father Paul. Burial to

follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements

are being handled by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.

Benjamin Cummings, Sr.

Benjamin Cummings, Sr., of Anahola died May 6, 2000, at the age of

67.

Born Sept. 20, 1937, he is survived by his wife: Winifred Kaleiohi

Cummings; one daughter: Terrilynn (Chad Rapozo) Makanani of Anahola; three

sons: Benjamin (Dawn) Cummings, Jr. of Kapaa, Ryan Dean (Vanessa) Cummings of

Anahola, Keoki Cummings of Anahola; two brothers: Lester Cummings of Kapa’a and

Albert (Merlin) Cummings of Kapa’a; three sisters: Mae Nakata of California,

Jeanette (Jimmy) Delos Reyes of O’ahu and Majorie Watanabe of Maui; four

granddaughters: Kahealani Tunny (Troy Paik) Cummings, Chaunci Cummings, Akanahe

Rapozo, and Kala’e Rapozo; numerous nieces, nephews, and

cousins.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, at the Kapaa Assembly

of God Church from 10 a.m. where services will be conducted at 12 noon. Burial

to follow at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

Casual attire is

suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
