David Ishii 2000 state girls golf championships opens at Princeville

Ito fired a 4-under 68 and leads after the first round of the David Ishii Girls

State Golf Championships at the Princeville Makai Golf Course.

Ito, who

finished second in the OIA championships and fifth in the state last year,

fired a 4-under 68 and leads Waiakea’s Leah Whiting by four strokes. Ito

recorded four birdies and one bogey on the front nine to go out in 33. On the

back nine, she played steady as she recorded one birdie and no bogeys. Leah

Whiting, who finished second in the BIIF championships

this year and 12th in the state last year shot an even-par

72.

Defending HHSAA champion Shayna Miyajima of Baldwin is in third place

with a 3-over 75.
