Lihu’e man found dead in stream

LIHU’E — The body of a 47-year-old Lihu’e man was found Wednesday morning in

the Kapaia Stream behind the Sun Village Kaua’i condominiums.

The man,

identified as John Auch, a resident of Sun Village, had been missing since

Sunday.

Auch was found by KPD Sgt. Sylvester Oliveira, who was part of a

police department search team, at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the

man’s death did not appear to be related to foul play.

An autopsy will be

performed at Wilcox Memorial Hospital to determine the cause of death.

Auch

was last seen at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Sun Village. He was reported missing by

his girlfriend around 3 p.m. Monday.

On the same day, friends searched for

Auch near the Sun Village complex. When they weren’t able to find him, police

were notified of his disappearance.

KPD subsequently mounted its search

effort on Wednesday morning.
