LIHU’E —Sunquest, whose sister carrier SunTrips operates a San
Francisco-Lihu’e nonstop flight each Friday, has announced it will begin a
weekly, nonstop flight from Los Angeles beginning this Saturday, April
15.
United Airlines has daily nonstop service between Lihu’e and Los
Angeles, and Saturday and Sunday nonstop service between Lihu’e and San
Francisco.
The new service brings to 11 the total of weekly nonstop flights
from California to Lihu’e Airport.
Sunquest’s new service, aboard a
379-passenger DC-10 jet, will depart Los Angeles International Airport at 8:15
a.m. each Saturday, and arrive at Lihu’e at 10:45 a.m.
The return flight
leaves Lihu’e at 11:45 a.m., stops in Honolulu, then continues to Los Angeles,
arriving there at 10:45 p.m. Sue Kanoho, executive director of the Kaua’i
Visitors Bureau, had hoped the Sunquest Los Angeles-Lihu’e service would have
started earlier this year, but is happy it’s happening now.
“We are very
excited about this additional nonstop flight being offered by Sunquest to
Kaua’i,” she said.
“An early Saturday morning flight nonstop to Kaua’i will
make it even easier for our West Coast guests to visit our
island.”
SunTrips, another brand of the North American Leisure Group,
brings in a charter flight from San Francisco each Friday morning.
SkyserviceUSA is the charter.
Owned by Airtours, the largest air-inclusive
tour operator in the world, SunTrips and Sunquest form a key part of Airtours’
North American Leisure Group.
