The Waimea/Kapa’a boys’ singles play had both teams
splitting as Kapa’a’s Ed Roessler defeated Ipo Kamakele, 6-2, 6-3. Cory Pablo
of Waimea took Ryan Esaki, 7-6, (1), (6-2).
Waimea’s Adam Henkel and
Lindsey Ibara topped Cory Nagai and Cody Hashimoto, 6-3, 6-1 with the team of
Ricky Riopta and Jamieson Cosier bettering Stephen Esaki and Seth Marushige,
6-4, 6-3.
Tim Ishida, Kapu Kendrickson defeated Jesse Eres, Shawn Fabro,
6-4, 4-6, 6-1 for the Kapa’a win in boys’ doubles.
Kapa’a’s Serina Roush
got the girls’ singles win for the Warriors by downing Kathleen Sisan, 6-4,
6-4. Waimea’s Loryanne Garawan handled Kapa’a’s Seychelle DeMille, 6-1, 6-4
for the split in girl’s Singles play.
Waimea swept the girls’ doubles
matches with teams of Roselyn Butac and Heather Medina taking Karen Kam-Jim and
Mo Lydon, 6-3, 6-4. Karen Sison and Tracy Hayashi took Ashley tunac and Leah
Ornellas, 6-4, 6-4, and the Menehunes’ sweep was completed as Leah Gudoy and
Jennifer Tambio defeated Leah Ornellas and Krystal Kakimoto, 1-6, 6-1,
6-3.
The Red Raiders swept both ends of the March 25 games against Waimea
5-0, 5-0 in boys’ and girls’ action at the Waimea courts.
Ipo Kamakele went
down against Kevin Konishi, 1-6, 0-6, and Cory Pablo fell to Jamie DelaCruz,
2-6, 6-7.
Adam Henkel and Lindsey Ibara were victimized by Brad Lum Tucker
and Todd Ozaki, 1-6, 1-6. Ricky Riopta and Jamieson Cosier fell to Sean Moura
and Kesson Yamamoto, 4-6, 6-7 (8-10), and Shawn Fabro and Jesse Erese were
defeated by Bruce Williams and Landon Labrador, 0-6, 4-6 to complete the Kaua’i
boys’ sweep.
Kathleen Sison dropped to Rena Kido, 3-6, 2-6 and Roselyn
Butac fell victim to Amy Surratt, 0-6, 2-6 for the Raider sweep in Girls’
Singles.
Heather Medina and Karen Sison were defeated by Tiana Lum Tucker
and Karen Konishi, 1-6, 1-6. Tracie Hayashi and Leah Gudoy were downed by
Kristi Yasuda and Tracie Naganuma, 2-6, 1-6 with Jennifer Tambio and Debra
Bides being handled by Hokulani Jordan and Heather Roberts, 1-6, 0-6 to
complete the Raider sweep in Girls’ Doubles.
Exhibition matches on March 18
had Waimea sweeping the boys’ doubles as Jerrick Fabro and Cyrus Tumbaga taking
Glen Ramos and Tommy Yoshida, 8-4, and Ipo Kamakele and Ricky Riopta teaming
against Darren Lacaden and Seth Marushige, 8-0.
Shanti Wada and Julie Costa
got together against Waimea’s Debra Bides and Beverly Mangayayam for the 8-2
win with Waimea’s roselyn Butac and Heather Medina teaming against Kapa’a’s
Shantelle DeMille and Eileen Medina for the 8-4 win.
March 25 exhibition
matches had Waimea splitting the boys’ doubles with a win and Kaua’i girls’
sweeping the Menehunes in three matches.
Lindsey Ibara and Jerrick Fabro
fell to Stan Hashimoto and Jason Wada, 8-4 while Ipo Kamakele and Adam Henkel
bettered Joshua Miyamoto and Jonn Nishiguchi, 8-5 in the boys’
matches.
Jennifer Kawaguchi and Emmi Masumura topped Jennifer Tambio and
Tracie Hayashi, 8-4, Liane Fujii and Ashlie Tao were 8-3 better than Debra
Bides and Connie Agmata, and Alise Van Steenis and Hokulani Jordan defeated
Tracie Hayashi and Jennifer Tambio, 8-2 for the girls’ sweep.
