Closer to litter freeTo the Forum:

I recently combed the beach to assess the ocean debris left on our shorelines

and continue my quest to fill up 1,000 bags. I left off at 280 bags. I was able

to fill 20 bags, but to my amazement, the shoreline from Lydgate to Nukoli’i is

almost debris free.

To all the students from the different high schools,

mahalo, job well done. If we walk and observe with our eyes wide open, hug

someone, laugh with someone, cry with someone or simply tell them we love them,

we can all make a difference and leave a positive impact in someone’s life or

in our environment.

I feel proud to have raised some public awareness. If

we continue as a team effort to clean our beaches and are conscientious to keep

highways and byways litter free. We may soon gain the prestigious title of

“Litter Free Garden Isle.”

Aloha,

Helga Efhan
