KPD seeks suspect in N.S. assault

[]HANALEI[] – Kauai police have begun a search for a suspect in

connection with the sexual assault Saturday morning of a 31-year-old female

visitor who was staying at a vacation rental home here.

KPD Lt. Bill Ching

said the woman was sleeping in a room in the house when, at about 2 a.m., a man

attacked her. The suspect left about 20 minutes later.

Because the assault

occurred in the dark, the woman said she caught only a glimpse of the assailant

and could not provide an accurate description of the man to the police except

that he had a dark complexion.

Ching said the woman’s boyfriend was in the

house at the time of the attack, but he apparently didn’t know the woman was in

trouble because he was sleeping in another room.

Police took the victim to

Wilcox Hospital, where she was treated and released.
