Kaua’i junior golfers victorious
WAIKOLOA VILLAGE, Big Island — Kaua’i junior golfers Aki Matsumura, Shelcie Takenouchi and Kanoelani Sakihama were victorious in the final event in the Hawai’i State Junior Golf Association series at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course on the Big Island last weekend.
Matsumura won the Boys 15-18 Division with a 79, while Takenouchi won the Girls 11-12 Division with a 43 for nine holes. Sakihama earned first place in the Girls 10-and-Under Division.
The overall winner of the tournament was Chris Souza of Kailua, while both Matsumura and Kaua’i’s Chris Caycayon placed second overall.
Caycayon was also runner-up to Souza in the Boys 13-14 Division.
Other Kaua’i golfers taking part were Erick Wong (tied for sixth in Boys 15-18), Stephen Peeren (second in Boys 11-12), Chad Nonaka (third in Boys 11-12), Michael Garcia (seventh in Boys 11-12), Reece Senda (eight in Boys 11-12), T.J. Kua (sixth in Boys 10-and-Under), Cory Oride (11th in Boys 10-and-Under), Robyn Caycayon and Kimberly Yama (tied for fourth in Girls 11-12).
The event concluded the HSJGA’s first statewide junior golf tour. Another tour will be held for state junior golfers next year.
KauMaka looking for coaches
KAUMAKANI — The KauMaka Youth Baseball Association is looking for any interested head coaches or assistant coaches for the Shetland and Bronco Divisions for the upcoming season.
The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 12.

Horse clinic at Foxfyre Ranch
PRINCEVILLE — Visiting North American dressage gold medalist Louise Labrucherie will be coming to Kaua’i to give a horse riding clinic.
Labrucherie will give the clinic at Princeville’s Foxfyre Ranch on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26 and 27.

Turkey shoot tennis at Kiahuna
PO’IPU — The Kiahuna Tennis Club will host its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.
The entry deadline is Thursday, Nov. 18 and the entry ee is $10.
Teams will be formed and competition will be held in men’s and women’s divisions and mixed doubles. Each match will be four games with no ad scoring.
