The Rainbow Warriors’ season started with a lot of promise, but then recently it has slid. The University of Hawaii’s football team is hoping to end a three-game losing streak this weekend as UH hosts conference rival Utah State. Kickoff is set for 5:59 p.m. Saturday at Aloha Stadium.
Swim Kauai Aquatic water girl Chloe Inouye sparkled at the 19th Annual Bill Smith Invitational swim meet hosted by the Kamehameha Swim Club, which wrapped up Sunday at the K. Mark Takai Veterans’ Memorial Aquatic Center on Oahu.

For Kapaa High School senior Ka’imi Malina and Kauai High School senior Justice Funamura-Sasil, those beginnings were on the field where they played in their youth in Lihue. On Thursday, it’s where they announced where their futures are headed.
Island School sophomore Jaden De Souza placed second overall among the girls runners at the 2018 Honolulu Marathon Cross Country Championships state meet on Saturday at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park. De Souza completed the three-mile course with a time of 20 minutes, 8.19 seconds. Chloe Gangnath of Seabury Hall (Maui Interscholastic League) won with a time of 19:20.73.
The HIC Pro, which is the official qualifying event for the Triple Crown of Surfing, has been underway at Sunset Beach over the past few days. The large field is beginning to dwindle and the eliminations have been hazardous for a lot of the more well-known competitors.
PRINCEVILLE — The heavy overnight rains Monday slowed not only the Princeville Makai Invitational, but the consistent No. 2 overall golfer Joshua McCarthy of Pepperdine as well. The Tuesday start of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational was delayed by an hour due to the rains, and McCarthy was plagued by three bogies on his final outing.
