Yamamoto heading to nationals

PUHI — Loikena Yamamoto will have his final heavy practice Saturday before leaving Tuesday for Michigan, where he will be participating in the USA Youth Weight Lifting in the 13 and Under, 62 kilogram division that will contest July 14 through 17.

KAPAA — Kapaa High School graduate April Barnes won’t be going too far from home, but she will still take her game to the collegiate ranks. Barnes will attend Chaminade University of Honolulu, an NCAA Division II school, in the fall and join the school’s women’s soccer team.
