Liz Hahn (congratulations on the good showing in the Betta Breeders Canada Show, where she picked up medals for 24, including seven first places and three Best of Variety, of the 30 bettas she entered!) is back at the Kauai Community Market after being sidelined by a knee injury, and Ursa Swift of Midnight Bear Breads (we have bread again!) is back home from New Zealand. Liz said she’s off to the betta convention in a few weeks because the event will be at the Queen Mary (Long Beach is a great place to visit).
My introduction to McBryde Sugar Co. (1899-1996) came in 1971, when I was residing with my wife, Ginger, and our children, Michelle and Brett, in the old camp house of Ginger’s grandparents, Rita and Agapito Sadang, at Kapaa Stable Camp on Kaapuni Road.
Mahalo to Becky Swank (is she related to the actress?) for making sure The Happy Camper had a donut on National Donut Day (congratulations to Lt. Bill Simon of The Salvation Army on a great Kauai event!), and kudos to the Celebrado ohana and Chris Taniguchi for making sure the donuts kept coming out of the Daylight Donuts kitchens!
