If you missed the Kauai Veterans Day Parade (kudos to Russell Maeda, Gen. Mary Kay Hertog and the numerous hands that make the parade possible!) Saturday in Kapaa, there is still the annual Veterans Day service coming up Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Born in Oak Park, Illinois, World War II fighter pilot Joseph E. Bell Jr. (1925-1967) had accumulated seven years of experience as a crop duster in Arizona before joining Murrayair Ltd. on the Big Island in 1954.
Congratulations to Virginia Beck, Maryanne Kusaka, Lila Metzger and Dr. Mehana Vaughan for all they do for the community of Kauai! The four great ladies were honored during the 10th annual Na Wahine Alakai O Kauai presented by the YWCA of Kauai before an audience of more than 300 people at the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club.
Chef Judy Capertina of Haole Girl Island Sweets (yes, she was part of the inaugural Thursday Afternoon Street Market at Kukui Grove Cetner, too!) had coconut macaroons on hand for the Halloween edition of the Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula Wednesday, where little trick-or-treaters were seen (Helaine Perel said they were doing the Teal Pumpkin Project, too!), and Stacie Chiba-Miguel allowed a sneak peek at the non-candy treats in store for people who can’t have candy.
If you use Ke Ala Hele Makalae, Kauai Path wants to hear from you.
