KAUMAKANI — Offense took center stage in the Kauai Senior Softball League with runaway run-scoring in the weekend contests at the islands two smallest ballparks. Ohana set up housekeeping at the tiny confines of Eleele Stadium, and Kuku’s Aces swept the carpet at the tropical gem in Kaumakani.

HANAPEPE — The Menehune boys won their first league title since 2012. Waimea High School’s varsity baseball team defeated Kapaa High School, 5-3, in a playoff game Tuesday afternoon to clinch the Kauai Interscholastic Federation championship.

LIHUE — For a fourth consecutive year, local jiu-jitsu school Lions MMA went to Oahu to compete. Members of the school took part in the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) Pacific Championship on April 13 at Radford High School in Honolulu.

UH hosting conference championships; reflecting on Tiger’s Masters win

University of Hawaii’s men’s golf team will make an unusual third appearance on Kauai this season. After hosting the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational in October on Kauai’s North Shore and then hosting the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the Wailua Golf Course in February, UH will return to Wailua to host the Big West conference championships. The two-day tournament begins April 29.

Waimea High School’s varsity baseball team defeated Kauai High School, 4-2, Wednesday night at Vidinha Stadium to clinch the second round of the Kauai Interscholastic Federation season.

KAPAA — The Warriors celebrated their victory in their home gym soon after the final point was scored. As the Bernice Hundley Gym filled with cheers, Warriors senior Robert “Ali‘i” Brown signaled to the crowd holding up four fingers in the air.

KAPAA — The Menehune are now in the driver’s seat in the season’s second round. Waimea High School’s varsity baseball team swept Kapaa High School in Saturday’s KIF baseball doubleheader at the Ron Martin Field on the Kapaa High School campus.
