LIHUE — Kauai High School’s varsity football team defeated Waimea High School, 21-2, Saturday afternoon at Vidinha Stadium. Kauai (6-1, 4-1 KIF) totaled 257 yards rushing. The Red Raiders first got on the board in the second quarter.

Kauai paddlers reflect on racing in 66th Molokai Hoe

A contingent of local paddlers competed against not only some of the best in the state, but some of the best in the world. The 66th annual Molokai Hoe long-distance outrigger canoe race took place last weekend. Crews paddled about 41 miles on the Kaiwi Channel from Molokai to Oahu.

PUHI — The Menehune girls have clinched their second straight league title and berth at states. Waimea High School’s varsity girls volleyball team defeated Island School in straight sets Tuesday night at the Wilcox Gymnasium in Puhi to win this year’s Kauai Interscholastic Federation championship — 25-12, 25-7, 25-16.

Warriors win in rout on homecoming

LIHUE — On the team’s homecoming, the Warriors totaled 347 yards rushing to win in a rout. Kapaa High School’s varsity football team defeated Waimea High School, 59-6, Saturday afternoon at Vidinha Stadium.

Warrior wahine win in 4 on home court

KAPAA — On the school’s homecoming week, the Warrior wahine got a win at their home gym. Kapaa High School’s varsity girls volleyball team defeated Island School, 3-1, in Kauai Interscholastic Federeration ply Friday night at the Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapaa, 25-13, 24-26, 25-21, 25-20.

Bodybuilding contest this month

LIHUE — The 2018 NPC Kauai Cup is set for Oct. 20 at the Kauai Marriott Ballroom. The local bodybuilding competition, hosted by Ainofea Productions and RK Sports, is the only NPC-sanctioned event on Kauai.
