In response to Michael Newgent’s letter in The Garden Island of Jan. 2 regarding the idea that Democrats are “recruiting” illegal immigrants:
Only American citizens can vote in American elections. Illegal immigrants cannot vote. Please be clear on this point.
And please vote, whatever your opinions.

Appreciate St. Raphael’s Christmas display
Kudos St. Raphael Church of Koloa for presenting its first Joy of Christmas holiday light stroll. It was free for the community and a delight for all ages. Jolly volunteers greeted guests with candy canes, plenty of aloha, live music and ono grinds!
The light displays rivaled the County Building and cheered many hearts through the Christmas season.
Mahalo nui to Andy and Sandra Honi who led the team of helpers in creating an accessible, marvelous, memorable family event.

You need to get out more, Ms. Muhall. Illegal immigrants already are permitted to vote in San Francisco school board elections and California legislation is under way to permit illegal immigrants to vote statewide in California local and state elections.
Hey Wally, the median sale price of a home in SF is $1,333,100. The median rental price of a one bedroom apt. is $3,460; two bedroom – $4,650. Cost of living is 62% higher than the rest of the USA. You cannot make it with less than a six figure income. If there is a SF resident voting in the SF School Board elections, it most likely is NOT one of the undocumented people you worry about!
Mr. Newgent, are you the U.S. FEDERAL usda representative for Kauai, now shut down? Suppose you stick with the facts that war on the poor and patriotic people is apon us by bigotry and injustice residing in the White House and attitudes such as yours.

Mary, you are wrong. Democrats do indeed encourage illegal border crossings, which bring in sex trafficking among gems, which to democrats is a small price to keep themselves in power. Millions of illegals have been voting in California alone. Any attempts to thwart voter fraud such as this is shouted down by democrats as racist voter suppression.

Dream on Mary. FYI, I happen to know of at least 4 people in California that are not U.S. citizens, who voted in an election in the 1990’s. The we’re illegally in California for many years and somehow got registered to vote. And 25+ years later, I have no doubt that they still vote today.
Actually, many states do not even require an ID to vote. This is part of the election fraud in our country and yes, illegals are voting and this is well known. Go ahead and check your facts.

FACTS seem irrelevant to those blinded by Trump, and Fox News:
“While it’s true that undocumented residents living in California can obtain driver’s licenses, the state has not passed any laws that also provide them the right to vote. The New Motor Voter Act was passed in an effort to improve voter turnout, and while this law does automatically register citizens to vote when they obtain or renew their driver’s licenses, that action only applies to citizens who have already attested and/or documented an eligibility to vote.
The way automatic registration works is relatively simple: Eligible citizens are registered to vote when they show up at a Department of Motor Vehicles office to obtain a driver’s license or state ID. The DMV gives the eligible voter a chance to opt out if they prefer not to register. If the person does not opt out, the DMV electronically transfers their voter registration information to the Secretary of State’s office, rather than making election officials enter data by hand from paper registration forms.

Took about 2 minutes to find the FACTS. I wish more would educate themselves with reality, but unfortunately many aren’t interested, including Trump. As of Dec. 30, 2018: “In 710 days President Trump has made 7,645 false or misleading claims” = 10.8 per day. Hard to stifle those stats in your red hats!

Time to quit dreaming because obviously you’ve forgot how many illegals Obama (a Democrat) deported. However, he did it without the publicity Trump requires for his ego, and he didn’t separate ONE family. The children detained during his tenure crossed the border without an adult present.
