BARKING SANDS — The U.S. Pacific Fleet on Oahu is still putting together the pieces of how a woman allegedly stole nearly $356,000 from the Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility.
Charged with wire fraud, the woman, whose name The Garden Island has yet to confirm, allegedly used her position in the Defense Travel System to move money to personal accounts, KHON and Hawaii News Now reported Monday.
The woman allegedly falsified travel documents and wired money from Hawaii to Virginia from January 2011 through January 2017, news outlets reported.
Wednesday, PMRF Commanding Officer Capt. Vincent Johnson told The Garden Island the woman was fired from PMRF before he became the commanding officer in August 2016.
She was doing this for over 6 years at PMRF? Then how come the former commander was not held responsible? Seems like no supervisor was watching her or maybe that supervisor was also involved?
Typical government incompetence, the GS system of corrupt and laziness is quite evident and no wonder no one gets fired or disciplined. I’ve worked along these slacking GS personnel for over 10 years and the majority are plain useless.
She did it through January 2017 and he was appointed August 2016, according to the story. So how can it be she was fired before he was appointed?
There’s a huge fraud through nepotism at PMRF in the electronics dept. HR for the contractor is involved in the fraud so why aren’t they investigated? Electrical engineers can verify the nepotism and fraud by the contractor.
